Description
Methyl 9-undecenoate has a sweet, persistent, light, fatty, green
odor reminiscent of wine and iron. It has a brandy-like flavor at
low concentrations. It is unpleasant at high levels. May be prepared
by direct esterification of the acid with methanol and concentrated
H2S04 or HCl; by thermal decomposition of methyl ricinoleate.
