Enzyme inhibitor
This dibasic amino acid (FWdihydrochloride = 205.08 g/mol; CAS 410523-47-6) is the unnatural enantiomer of the common intermediate of the urea cycle and can be found in a number of antibiotics, including bacitracin A. DOrnithine is a product of the reaction catalyzed by D-arginase and ornithine racemase and is a substrate for D-ornithine 4,5-aminomutase. (See also LOrnithine) Target(s): 2-aminohexano-6-lactam racemase; L-arginine deaminase, weakly inhibited; arginine racemase; hydroxylysine kinase; L-ornithine decarboxylase; pyrroline 5-carboxylate synthase, or glutamate-5-semialdehyde dehydrogenase.
