GM3 Ganglioside (Milk, Bovine-AMMoniuM Salt) Chemical Properties,Usage,Production
General Description
Ganglioside monosialodihexosylganglioside (GM3) are membrane-bound glycosphingolipids (GSLs). It comprises?a?sialic acid residue?and an oligosaccharide head structure. GM3 is present in milk and kidney cells. GM3?is the most widely present ganglioside in tissues.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Ganglioside monosialodihexosylganglioside (GM3) modulates apoptosis, cell proliferation and differentiation. It is also essential for cellular signaling pathways, cell adhesion and mobility. GM3 prevents the action of fibroblast growth factor receptor. Low levels of ganglioside?GM3 is associated with the pathogenesis of?rheumatoid arthritis. GM3 maintains?immunological?functions by inhibiting cytokine production.
