Description

Alstonia macrophylla Wall yields this carboline alkaloid which forms colourless crystals from Me2CO. It is laevorotatory with [α]²⁹_Dl>s - 90° (CHCI3), the ultraviolet spectrum exhibiting two absorption maxima at 234 and 286 mil in ethanolic solution.
