Preparation from 2-hydroxy-4,6,atrimethoxyacetophenone by Elbs reaction (22%)
with sodium persulfate in aqueous sodium hydroxide at 15–20° for 23 h
with potassium persulfate in aqueous sodium hydroxide at 15–20° for 20 h (26%).
