Chemical Properties
White Solid
Uses
4β-Hydroxy Cholesterol-d7 is a labelled metabolite of Cholesterol. It is formed from Cholesterol by the drug-metabolizing enzyme cytochrome P 450 3A4. A potential ligand for the nuclear receptor LXR and also a new endogenous CYP3A marker.
Uses
4β-hydroxycholesterol-d7 has been used:
- as an internal standard to spike plasma samples ultra-high-pressure liquid, chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) analysis
- to spike serum samples for mass spectrometry measurements
- as an internal standard for the quantification of human colon biopsies samples using HPLC-MS
General Description
4β-hydroxycholesterol (4β-HC) is a catabolic product of cholesterol metabolism mediated by the enzyme cytochrome P450 family 3 subfamily A member 4 (CYP3A4). 4β-hydroxycholesterol-d7 is the deuterated form of 4β-hydroxycholesterol.
Biochem/physiol Actions
4β-hydroxycholesterol (4β-HC) may function as a liver X receptor ligand. The levels of 4β-HC are elevated in dextran sulfate induced colitis along with other oxysterols and it may promote colon inflammation.
