Integrin, β 4 (ITGB4) also known as CD104 (Cluster of Differentiation 104), is a gene in humans. The downregulation of ITGB4 expression in airway epithelial cells could impair the antigen presentation ability of epithelial cells. It may help in regulating airway inflammation reaction in allergic asthma. ITGB4 expressions are positively correlated in gastric cancer cell lines and tissues and is associated with poor outcomes in gastric cancer patients. It may serve as a therapeutic target in the treatment of gastric cancer. Mutations in ITGB4 cause an autosomal recessive disorder, genodermatosisepidermolysis bullosa with pyloric atresia (EB-PA).
