Uses

BPD can be used as a SAM that forms a sulfur functionalized layer on the gold surface for the formation of biocompatible interfaces for the immobilization of cells and proteins. It can prepare organic-metal-organic heterostructures using silver atoms which can be coated on the gold substrate for applications which include molecular electronics and plasmonics.
