Definition
2-Chlorochrysene is a chlorine-substituted form of Chrysene. Chrysene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) and one of the natural constituents of coal tar. It is produced as smoke during the incomplete combustion of coal, gasoline, garbage, and animal and plant materials. Chrysene, like most individual PAHs, has very limited or no known uses except as a reagent in biochemical or cancer research. Chrysene is more likely to be found mixed with other PAHs in commercial products like coal tar, coal tar pitch, creosote, bitumen and asphalt.
