Application
1-(4-aminophenyl)-1,2,2-triphenylene can be used as a synthetic intermediate, such as in the preparation of tetraphenylethene (TPE) compounds. These compounds possess a large conjugated system, with the four benzene rings of the molecule linked to a single isolated double bond. Due to steric hindrance, the benzene rings twist relative to each other, resulting in a propeller-like molecule. Tetraphenylethene compounds exhibit excellent luminescent properties and are easily synthesized, making them superior aggregation-induced emission (AIE) compounds. They have been extensively studied in fields such as organic light-emitting diodes, liquid crystal devices, supramolecular assembly, drug release, and sensors.
