2-[(2-Aminophenyl)(methyl)amino]ethanol is used as a reactant in the preparation of substituted tetrahydroquinoxalines and tetrahydrobenzo[b][1,4]diazepines by pentamethylcyclopentadienyl iridium-catalyzed hydrogen transfer N-heterocyclization of anilino alcohols.
