Synthesis
138 mg (1.07 mmol) of 5-Fluorothiophene-2-carbonitrile and 5 ml of 1 N sodium hydroxide were added to an egg plant-shaped flask, and then the mixture was stirred under heating at 100° C for 2 hours. After completion of the reaction, the reaction solution was cooled to room temperature. subsequently, 5 ml of water and 10 ml of 1N hydrochloric acid was added to the mixture, thereby resulting in pH=1. Thereafter, the mixture was extracted with 30 ml of dichloromethane twice. After that, organic layers were gathered. The organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate, and the solvent was then removed under reduced pressure to obtain 110 mg of 5-Fluorothiophene-2-carbonitrile.
