Biological Activity
CHAMP1 (chromosome alignment-maintaining phosphoprotein), a zinc-finger protein, is highly involved in the chromosome segregation. It consists of C2H2 zinc-finger domains at the N- and C-terminal regions. During sister chromatid bi-orientation, it helps in the attachment of kinetochores to the microtubule for chromosomal alignment on the metaphasic plate. During mitosis, CHAMP1 activity is regulated by the mitotic phosphorylation.
