Industrial uses
Ferroquine is active against the parasite Plasmodium falciparum.
Even more exciting is the fact that it is also active against the chloroquine-resistant strain of P. falciparum.
The changed biological activity might be due to the changed lipophilicity and/or the redox action that is
present after the introduction of the ferrocene group.
