Chemical Properties
Cadmium iodide is a crystalline solid
Chemical Properties
white to light beige solid
Uses
Calcium iodide, anhydrous is used as a drug in upper respiratory combinations, expectorants. And it is also used as Laboratory chemicals, Manufacture of substances.
Preparation
Strontium fluoride can be prepared by the reaction of
strontium chloride with fluorine gas, or by action of
hydrofluoric acid on strontium carbonate:
SrCl2 (aq)+ F2 (gas)→SrF2 (solid)+ Cl2 (gas)
SrCO3+ 2HF→SrF2+ CO2+H2O
Note that the first reaction depends upon the
insolubility of SrF2 in water. Strontium fluoride is
a water-insoluble source for use in oxygen-sensitive applications, such as metal production since it in
nonhygroscopic.
Health Hazard
Exposures to cadmium iodide cause adverse health effects on the skin, blood, kidneys,
and lungs. It causes irritation to the eyes and skin, and corrosive effects to the skin and is
extremely hazardous in case of ingestion.
Toxicity evaluation
Exposures to cadmium iodide cause adverse health effects on the skin, blood, kidneys, and lungs. It causes irritation to the eyes and skin and corrosive effects to the skin. It is extremely hazardous in case of ingestion. The ACGIH and the NTP classified cadmium iodide as A2, meaning suspected for human carcinogen, and as Group 2, meaning reasonably anticipated human carcinogen, respectively.
