Pregn-5-ene-3,20-dione Bis(cyclic ethylene acetal) is a useful synthetic intermediate in the synthesis of 3,20-Bis(ethylenedioxy)pregna-5,7-diene (B433805); the 3,20-bis(ethylenedioxy) analog of Ergosterol (E599240) which is the most important provitamin D and is usually obtained from yeast that synthesize it from simple sugars such as glucose.
