Uses

A cofactor in enzymatic acetyl transfer reactions. It is the source of the phosphopantetheine group that is added as a prosthetic group to proteins such as acyl carrier protein and formyltetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase.

ChEBI: Heptanoyl-CoA is a medium-chain fatty acyl-CoA that results from the formal condensation of the thiol group of coenzyme A with the carboxy group of heptanoic acid. It is functionally related to a coenzyme A and a heptanoic acid. It is a conjugate acid of a heptanoyl-CoA(4-).
