Uses
Solvent Blue 38, also known as Fast Blue MBSN, is a dye with various applications including useful as a myelin-sheath stain. Commonly utilized in microscopy to detect demyelination in the central nervous system. Dyes and metabolites.
Preparation
Copper phthalocyanine with fuming sulfuric acid at 50 ~ 60 ℃ heating for 10 to 15 hours, and then disulfonated and converted into amine salts.
Biological Activity
Solvent Blue 38 exhibits a strong affinity towards bases in the lipoproteins of myelin sheath due to which it is stained blue.
