Caspase-2, Human, Recombinant, E. coli Caspase-2, Human, Recombinant, E. coli is expressed as a single polypeptide chain that undergoes spontaneous autoprocessing to yield the native active enzyme.
Caspase 2 plays a major role in both positive and negative regulation of programmed cell death. It exists as two spliced variants, Ich-1L (long) and Ich-1S (short). Functionally, the two forms differ in that overexpression of the long form will induce apoptosis, while overexpression of the short form suppresses cell death.
