4-Hydroxy-3-iodo-5-nitrobenzaldehyde can be useful in the preparation of C1-C7, C8-C15, and C16-N22 fragments of herbimycin A. It may also be useful in the synthesis of D- and L-??triiodothyronine and D-??and L-??thyroxine, and synthesis of nitroxinil.
