Enzyme inhibitor
This proprietary mixture of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine salts (CAS Reg. Nos = 300-62-9 and 51-64-9; NLM Unique ID = C090411) is a CNS stimulant that is widely used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. These agents act by blocking the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine into presynaptic neurons and by stimulating the release of these monoamines into the synaptic cleft (See Amphetamine). Adderall is also used as a performance and cognitive enhancer, and recreationally as an aphrodisiac and euphoriant.
