Uses
Devarda's Alloy is used as reducing agent in analytical chemistry for the determination of nitrates after their reduction to ammonia under alkaline conditions. It is also used in the quantitative or qualitative analysis of nitrates in agriculture and soil science before the development of ion chromatography. It is an important raw material and intermediate used in organic synthesis, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemicals.

Devarda′s alloy is a reducing agent, and has found application in being used to reduce NO

4+-N, thereby finding functionality in being used for total nitrogen determination.
