Description
The structure of this bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid has been given by Russian
workers as that shown above. The melting point has also been recorded as
IS6-7°C following recrystallization from EtOH. The salts and derivatives
which have been described include, the hydrochloride, m.p. 229-230°C;
hydrobromide, m.p. 251-3°C; hydriodide, m.p. 240-2°C; picrate, m.p.
209-211°C and the methiodide, m.p. 236°C.
Uses
Hernandezine is a novel anticancer AMPK activator identified as a major major active constituent of Thalictrum Ranunculaceae.
