Its leaves have been used successfully to reduce symptoms associatedwith prostatitis in Europe for over a decade. Prostatitis is a noncancerous conditionthat causes the prostate gland to enlarge, making urination difficult (Shoskes 2002).Nettles can be eaten on their own or as an ingredient in foods; the leaves must becooked or steamed to destroy the hairs, which contain a number of irritating chemicals(Lust 2014).
