Uses

Stacofylline (S 9977 free base; S 9977-2 free base) a xanthine derivative, is a potent AChE inhibitor with an IC50 of 5-50 nM. Stacofylline shows anti-amnesic and promnesic activities[1].

in vivo

In Scopolamine, Diazepam, and electroconvulsive shock (ECS) mouse models, Stacofylline (S 9977) at low doses (0.0312-0.5 mg/kg; p.o.) clearly attenuates the memory deficits induced by the three amnesic treatments after acute treatment^[2].
