Safety Data

Toxicity
The last component of the mitochondrial electron transport system. It receives electrons from cytochrome c and transfers them to oxygen to allow the formation of water; in the process, sufficient free energy is released to allow the formation of ATP. The complex contains heme and copper and can be effectively inhibited by cyanide or carbon monoxide, both of which stop electron transport and prevent ATP formation.
