Chemical Properties

Occurrence The root bark of Dulacia guianensis yields manicolines A and B which have been separated by chromatographic methods. This component forms pale yellow crystals from AcOEt and is dextrorotatory with a specific rotation of [α]D +69° (c 0.9, CHC13 + 10% EtOH). Manicoline A is not cytotoxic for chick embryo fibroblasts up to doses of 5 Il. g/mL and does not inhibit cell transformation induced by Rous sarcoma virus.
