It has a role as an antioxidant, a cyclooxygenase 2 inhibitor, an anti-inflammatory agent, a cardioprotective agent, a platelet aggregation inhibitor and an apoptosis inhibitor. It is a stilbenoid, a beta-D-glucoside and a member of resorcinols.
