Uses
18:1-12:0 NBD PA or 1-oleoyl-2-{12-[(7-nitro-2-1,3-benzoxadiazol-4-yl)amino]dodecanoyl}-sn-glycero-3-phosphate (ammonium salt) is suitable: for the in vitro enzyme activity assay of galactolipase, for NBD-PA and NBD phosphatidyl choline uptake assays, to measure lipid transfer specificity of Ups1 mutants
General Description
Phosphatidic acid (PA) is a simple anionic membrane phospholipid. The amphipathic phospholipid contains a polar head group and two long hydrophobic acyl chains. NBD PA is a fluorescent probe containing 7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl (NBD) linked to the sn-2 fatty acid of PA.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phosphatidic acid (PA) is crucial for intracellular signaling involved in various cellular processes, including membrane trafficking and sperm hyper-activation. PA reacts with water and other phospholipids to produce lipid bilayers and multicomponent bilayers, respectively.
