Description
An oxoaporphine alkaloid which has been isolated from the eHCl3 extract of the
trunk bark of Michelia lanuginosa Wall., the structure has been established from
the ultraviolet, infrared, NMR and mass spectra. All attempts to reduce the alka_x0002_loid, either with NaBH4 or catalytic hydrogenation with Pt02, have failed due to
the ready oxidation of the reduction product in solution.
Uses
Lanuginosine (Compound 12) is an AChE inhibitor (IC50: 10.9 μM). Lanuginosine inhibits Aβ aggregation. Lanuginosine can be used for research of Alzheimer’s disease[1].
