Description
Gentiana turkestanorum Gaud. yields this simple pyridine alkaloid which forms
colourless needles when recrystallized from Me 2CO. It is optically inactive and
forms a series of crystalline salts and derivates, e.g. the nitrate, m.p. 127 -8°C;
oxalate, m.p. 158-9°C; picrate, m.p. 146-7°C; methiodide, m.p. 157-8°C and
the O-acetyl derivative, m.p. 96-7°C
