Chlorfensulphide is an obsolete acaricide. Little information is available regarding its environmental fate. It is moderately toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. It has a low mammalian toxicity if ingested and is a skin irritant.

(E)-1-((4-Chlorophenyl)thio)-2-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)diazene is a pesticide.

ChEBI: Chlorfensulphide is a member of monochlorobenzenes and a trichlorobenzene.

Chlorfensulphide is commercially produced through a diazotization and coupling reaction. The process begins with the diazotization of 2,4,5-trichloroaniline using sodium nitrite and hydrochloric acid to form the diazonium salt. This intermediate is then coupled with 4-chlorothiophenol under controlled pH and temperature conditions to yield the final product: (E)-1-[(4-chlorophenyl)thio]-2-(2,4,5-trichlorophenyl)diazene. The reaction is typically carried out in aqueous or alcoholic media, followed by purification through crystallisation.
