Synthesis
General procedure for the synthesis of 2-(methylsulfinyl)pyridine and 2-(methylsulfonyl)pyridine from 2-methylthiopyridine: 2-methylthiopyridine (130.3 mg, 1.0 mmol), 35% H2O2 aqueous solution (247.7 mg, 2.5 mmol), and Ti-IEZ-MWW catalyst (9.9 mg) were added to the test tube fitted with a magnetic stirrer. ). The reaction mixture was stirred at 50°C for 3 hours. The reaction process was analyzed by GC through a toluene solution with biphenyl as internal standard to determine the conversion and yield. The results showed >99% yield of 2-(methylsulfonyl)pyridine, >99% conversion of 2-methylthiopyridine and >99% selectivity (yield/conversion).
