Chemical Properties
Light gray or off-white powder. Melting point 98-100°C. Insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as pyridine and ethanol, and also soluble in 2%-3% hydrochloric acid.
Uses
FAST BLUE BB SALT is mainly used for dyeing cotton, and also for dyeing viscose fibers, silk, and printing on cotton fabrics. It couples with naphthols AS, AS-D, and AS-BO to dye blue; and with naphthols AS-OL, AS-BS, and AS-SW to dye reddish-navy blue. Its coupling ability is relatively weak, and the coupling speed is moderate.
Preparation
2,5-Diethoxybenzenamine?and Benzoyl chloride ?condensation, and then nitration and reduction (BIOS 1149).
