Synthesis
Step 1: Synthesis of ethyl 4-bromo-3,5-diethoxybenzoate: 4-bromo-3,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (2.0 g, 8.6 mmol), ethyl iodide (6.7 g, 43.0 mmol), and potassium carbonate (5.9 g, 43.0 mmol) were dissolved in N,N-dimethylformamide (20 mL), and the reaction was stirred at 50 °C overnight. Upon completion of the reaction, a standard water/ethyl acetate extraction post-treatment was performed to afford the target product ethyl 4-bromo-3,5-diethoxybenzoate (2.5 g, 93% yield).
