Guazatine is a guanidine fungicide used to control range of pathogens mainly on citrus fruit. It is highly soluble in water, non-volatile and tends to be non-persistent in soil systems but is more stable and persistent in water systems. It has a low potential for leaching to groundwater. It has a moderate mammalian oral toxicity but there is not evidence of chronic issues such as carcinogenicity, endocrine disruption or neurotoxicity. It is highly toxic to birds but less so to other terrestrial and aquatic species.

ChEBI: A member of the class of guanidines that is dioctylamine in which a hydrogen from each of the terminal methyl groups is replaced by a guanidino group. Once used as a fungicidal seed dressing, it is no longer approved for use in the European Union.

Guazatine is commercially produced through the amidination of technical iminodi(octamethylene)diamine, resulting in a complex mixture of guanidated polyamines with fungicidal properties. In industrial settings, guazatine is synthesised by reacting polyamines, primarily derived from octamethylenediamine, with guanidine compounds. This process yields a heterogeneous mixture of oligomers containing guanylated primary and secondary amino groups linked by octamethylene bridges.
