Description
Isoflucypram is a new cereals fungicide. It as a low aqueous solubility and is not considered highly volatile. Under certain conditions the substance may be persistent in both soil and water systems. No major human health issues have been identified but it may be a skin sensitiser or cause skin irritation. It is toxic to aquatic systems but is not considered harmful to insect pollinators.
Production Methods
Isoflucypram is produced through a multi-fragment assembly route typical of recent SDHI fungicides, where the final molecule is built by coupling pre-constructed heterocyclic and halogenated aromatic units rather than through a single linear sequence. Commercial manufacture begins with synthesis of the pyridinyl-pyrimidinone core, formed through controlled cyclisation and halogenation steps. In parallel, producers prepare the fluorinated benzamide-type side chain, using established amide-forming and selective fluorination chemistry. These fragments are then joined via an activated acyl-coupling step, after which the crude product is purified, solvent stripped, and crystallised to achieve the required technical-grade solid.
