General procedure for the synthesis of 3-aminocyclopentanol hydrochloride from the compound (CAS: 1445796-28-0): concentrated hydrochloric acid (HCl, 10 mL) was slowly added to a solution of compound 4 (8.0 g, 34 mmol) in methanol (MeOH, 100 mL), and the reaction mixture was subsequently heated and refluxed for 2 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to remove the solvent. The obtained residue was dissolved in water and washed with ethyl acetate (EA). The aqueous phase was subsequently concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the target product 3-aminocyclopentanol hydrochloride (2.8 g, 82% yield) containing the HCl salt. The structure of the product was confirmed by 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) with the following chemical shifts (δ ppm): 4.33 (broad single peak, 1H), 3.66 (broad single peak, 1H), 2.08-2.16 (multiple peaks, 2H), 1.74-1.90 (multiple peaks, 4H).
