Eremophilene is a component of Alpinia oxyphylla essential oil used widely in the In vitro cytotoxicity of human cancer cell lines, and also with great potentials for the food and pharmaceutical industry.

It is a member of octahydronaphthalenes, a polycyclic olefin and a sesquiterpene. It is an enantiomer of a (+)-eremophilene.
