Pantothenic acid is useful in treating vertigo, postoperative shock, and poisoning with isoniazid and curare;it is useful in accelerating wound healing; and it is useful in treating Addison’s disease, liver cirrhosis, and diabetes.
Pantothenic acid is produced commercially by synthesis involving the condensation of d-pantolactone with salt of β-alanine. Some of the dietary supplement forms include calcium pantothenate, dexpanthenol, and panthenol.
