Acid Green 25 (cas# 4403-90-1) is an organic acid dye. Acid green 25 can undergo colour when co-intercalated with acid yellow 25 into the interlayer of ZnAl layered double hydroxides.Dyes and metabolites.
For nylon sutures: Fed. Regist. 42, 52395 (1977). Permitted for use in drugs and cosmetics, excluding use in eye area: ibid. 47, 49628 (1982).
(a) ?anthracene-1,4,9,10-tetraol?or 1,4-Dihydroxyanthracene-9,10-dione and anthracene-1,4,9,10-tetraol?mixture?with 2 moles of p-Methylaniline in the presence of boric acid condensation; (b) 1,4-Dichloroanthracene-9,10-dione and 2 Moore’s p-Methylaniline?condensation, its product (C.I. Solvent Green 3, C.I. 61565) products, and translate into sodium salt.
Fine black or green powder.
Slightly soluble in water.
Acid Green 25 is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. .
Flash point data for Acid Green 25 are not available. Acid Green 25 is probably combustible.
Flammability and Explosibility
Non flammable
Moderately toxic by ingestion. Askin and severe eye irritant.
When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumesof NOx, SOx, and Na2O.
Purify it by salting out three times from an aqueous solution with sodium acetate, followed by repeated extraction with EtOH [McGrew & Schneider J Am Chem Soc 72 2547 1950]. It is a green powder that is slightly soluble in Me2CO, EtOH and pyridine. It is soluble in conc H2SO4 to give a blue solution that becomes turquoise on dilution. [Allen et al. J Org Chem 7 63 1942, Beilstein 14 H 725.]
Properties and Applications
blue light green. Green powder. Soluble in water, no solution at room temperature gather the tendency. Soluble in o-chlorophenol, slightly soluble in acetone, ethanol, Pyridine, insoluble in chloroform, toluene. The strong sulfuric acid dyes shows blackish green color, diluted Tracy turn blue; In nitric acid are brown. The little blue water solution, and a blue hydrochloric acid; Add sodium hydroxide is blue light green. Used for wool, polyamide, silk and their blended fabric dyeing and printing. Can also be used in leather, paper, cosmetics, soap, wood, electrical-controlled aluminum and biological color.
