Morinda citrifolia L. (Indian mulberry) is a medicinal plant in Southeast Asiaand has antibacterial, analgesic, and hypotensive properties. All parts of theplants, including the roots, bark, leaves, and fruits, have been demonstrated topossess active compounds that have great medicinal values. The methanol extractof fruits of Morinda citrifolia was tested for cytotoxicity activity against breastcancer cell line. A concentration of 0.1 mg/mL of crude extract showed cytotoxicactivity against breast cancer (MCF-7) cell lines at 29%. (Arpornsuwan andPunjanon 2006). Moreover, the fruit juice or puree is also reported to inhibit orprevent metastasis and destroy metastasized mammary or breast cancer cells(Wang et al. 2005).
