生物化学工学
生物化学工学は21世紀の主力産業の一つであり,生物、化学と工学の学際的な学科であり,生物化学工学と生物加工工学の総称であり,さらに生物技術の一つの分野であり,それは化学工学のフロンティア学科の一つであり,生物技術を生産力に変換し,工業化と商品化を実現する手段である。
生物化学製品は主に動物、植物、微生物を原料とし,生物化学工学、物理学、化学の方法によって加工してなる製品である。それは医薬、食品、飼料、基本的な有機化学原料、有機酸、生物農薬などの分野に広く適用する。
生物化学工学は第二次世界大戦時期から始まり,抗生物質の高度発酵と量産技術の研究をシンボルとする。20世紀60年代後半から80年代半ば,トランスジェニック技術、生体触媒と生体変換技術、動植物細胞培養技術、新規な生物反応器と新規な生体分離技術などの開発と研究の成功とともに,本学科は新たな発展時期に入り,学科システムは徐々に完全になる。20世紀後半,遺伝子工学を代表とするハイテク技術の迅速な発展に従って,本学科のさらなる発展に新たな分野を切り開く。
現在生物化学製品は医薬と衛生、農業・林業・牧畜業・漁業、軽工業食品、化学エネルギーと環境などの広い分野に関する。それは伝統産業の改善と新興産業の形成を推進することに非常に重要な役割を有し,それに人間社会の発展に深遠な変革的影響を及ばす。2011年まで,世界ではバイオハイテク製品の年間売上高はすでに1129.3億ドルに達し,経済的潜在力が大きい。それに,人間は環境への要求が厳しなるとともに,生物化学製品はますます注目される。そのため,生物化学工学は各国政府と科学者の大きな関心を呼び起こし,今日の世界ではすでにハイテク技術を競うホットスポットの一つになる。その発展レベルはすでに国家科学技術力の象徴となり,特に生命科学の迅速な発展に従って,人々はバイオハイテク製品へのニーズが高まっている。今後の10年間,米国や欧州などの先進国のバイオハイテク産業は10~20倍増加し,それに応じて生物化学製品も迅速に増加していると見込まれる。
