Binucleine 2 is a cell-permeable pyrazolo compound that inhibits cytokinesis function of the ARK-2 pathway. It inhibits Histone H3 phosphorylation on Ser10 in mitotic Drosophila Kc167 cells at 20 μM, while inactive in mammalian systems. Binucleine 2 does neither function as a general kinase inhibitor nor inhibit Cdk-dependent entry into mitosis.
