Small tree (so-called West Indian Rose) with compound leaves and white flowers. It grows mainly in South and Central
America and in the West Indies (Haiti, Dominican Republic and Jamaica). The wood may be used in furniture. It should not be confused with true sandalwood belonging to the botanical family Santalaceae.
