juvocimene II was isolated from the oil of sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum) and showed good activity against the milkweed bug Oncopeltus fasciatus. JH analogues are also present in plants. Plant-derived terpenoid JH mimics are effective insecticides. More than a dozen plant- derived sesquiterpenoids have been described to have insect-sterilizing effects as JH analogues, along with phytochemical disruption of insect development and behavior.
天然物の起源
One of the first observations was made by Williams who reported that the water of Rio Negro was rich in suspended organic materials from wood decay and free from mosquito larvae, unlike other rivers of the Amazon basin. JH analogues have been found in various plants and may interfere to some extent with the control of several species of insects. There have been numerous reports on the occurrence of plant compounds having JH activity (phytojuvenoids) such as juvabione, farnesol, juvocimene I and II, sesamin, sesamolin, thujic acid, sterculic acid, tagetone, ostruthin, echinolone, bake-chiol, and juvadecene.
