Uses
PazePC is an oxidatively modified phospholipid that modulates reactions between Bax (a pro-apoptotic protein) and mitochondrial membranes under intracellular oxidative stress, often resulting in cell death. PazePC is found in low density cholesterol (LDL).
General Description
1-palmitoyl-2-azelaoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (PAzePC) structure contains an anionic carboxyl group at the end of the short, oxidized acyl chain.
Biochem/physiol Actions
1-palmitoyl-2-azelaoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (PAzePC) is an oxidized lipid. PAzePC acts as an inter- H2O2 permeation promoter. It serves as a drug target for antipsychotic drugs and antimicrobial agents in cells under oxidative stress at inflammatory sites. PAzePC facilitates permeabilization of Bax associated-mitochondrial membranes under oxidative stress.
