Description
Methyl (2,2,2-trifluoroethyl) carbonate (FEMC; Carbonic acid, Methyl 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl ester), ≥99%, battery grade is one kind of fluorinated linear carbonate. It comes with very low water content (≤ 300.0 ppm) and low impurity of HF (≤ 250.0 ppm) which is ideal for battery research.
Application
Battery-grade methyl (2,2,2-trifluoroethyl) carbonate (FEMC; Carbonic acid, Methyl 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl ester) is an effective additive for improving the performance and stability of lithium-ion batteries. Its outstanding thermal and electrochemical stability makes it a reliable option for high-temperature and high-voltage battery applications. FEMC has been shown to improve battery life, enhance energy density, and increase cycling stability. As an electrolyte additive in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), FEMC plays a vital role in forming a stable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) and effective passivation of the cathode surfaces, resulting in enhanced discharge capacity and cyclability. Even adding 5 wt % of FEMC was found to be very effective in forming a stable SEI layer and protecting the surface of the cathode. FEMC's high performance makes it an attractive choice for battery manufacturers looking to create safe and efficient battery products.
