Chemical Properties
The structural formula of DiC6P varies because the iso-alcohols used in the manufacture contain several isomers. DiC6P is a watery white liquid with a mild odor.
It is a liquid from -33°C (pour point) to 340–350°C (boiling
point). The vapor pressure is 0.01 mmHg (100°C). DiC6P is
essentially insoluble in water, but it is soluble in organic
solvents. It has a specific gravity of 1.01.
Uses
Its major use is as a plasticizer.
Uses
Di-n-hexyl Phthalate is a Phthalate derivative and an organic extract contaminant found in drinking water, which was shown to activate Nrf-2-Mediated Antioxidant response in human cell line.
Definition
ChEBI: Di-n-hexyl phthalate is a 2-hydroxyisophthalic acid.
Production Methods
DiC6P is manufactured by the reaction of phthalic anhydride
with isohexanol in the presence of an acid catalyst.
