Definition
A white paste, the most
important of the naphthenic acid salts, commer-
cial samples have consistency of grease, but this
will vary with source and manner of processing.
Excellent emulsifying and foam-producing proper-
ties, low hydrolytic dissociation.
General Description
White paste to clear, dark brown liquid (NTP, 1999). The sodium salts of any one or of a mixture of a group of saturated fatty acids derived from petroleum.
Air & Water Reactions
Water soluble.
Reactivity Profile
NAPHTHENIC ACID SODIUM SALT is soap-like. Weakly basic in its reactions.
Fire Hazard
NAPHTHENIC ACID SODIUM SALT is probably combustible.
